Free Alarm Apps for Heavy Sleepers: What You Can Use Without Paying

For an iPhone alarm without an extra subscription, start with Apple Clock. It is included with the phone and may already do what you need. A free download of another app is not the same as free ongoing access to its advertised features.

Make the included option work first

Open Clock, check the alarm time and repeat days, choose an audible sound, and check its volume. Apple's alarm support guide explains that Silent mode and Do Not Disturb do not prevent Clock alarms from sounding. If that is your concern, installing a new app may not solve the underlying setting problem.

When a free third-party app may help

If the alarm sounds but you dismiss it too easily, investigate a task-based alarm. Alarmy says its essential features are free and offers a paid Premium tier. Check whether the specific mission you want is included on your device. Features, ads, trials and prices can differ by platform or change over time.

Before accepting a trial, answer these four questions

• Can I create and use my intended alarm after the trial ends without paying?
• Is the sound or dismissal task I chose a premium feature?
• When does the trial renew, and what is the renewal price shown in my region?
• Can I still reach the ordinary alarm settings if I decline the offer?

Read the purchase screen before confirming. Keep a reminder of the renewal date if you choose a trial. Do not assume that a prominent “Get” button means all features are free.

Check the setup without spending anything

Schedule a daytime alarm a few minutes ahead. Use your intended sound, lock the phone, and leave it in the place you use overnight. Check that it can be heard at a comfortable level. Repeat after changing relevant settings. This checks playback, not whether you will wake from sleep.
